Research Interests

I am interested in understanding the role of implicit cognitive processes in the initiation, development and maintenance of drug abuse and dependence. Particularly, I am interested in exploring selective attention for drug cues and implicit associations involved in substance abuse. I am also interested in how these mechanisms are affected by emotions and its implication for prevention and treatment. An additional research interest is in the area of possible gender differences in responses to drug cues, with special emphasis on the potential role of violence and trauma history in drug dependent women..
