Judy Illes,
PhD
Dr. Illes is Professor of Neurology and Canada Research Chair in Neuroethics at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Illes directs the National Core for Neuroethics at UBC and a research team devoted to ethical, legal, social and policy challenges specifically at the intersection of neuroscience and biomedical ethics. Dr. Illes has written numerous books, edited volumes and articles. Her latest book, Neuroethics: Defining the Issues in Theory, Practice and Policy, was published by Oxford University Press in 2006.
Dr. Illes is a co-founder of the Neuroethics Society . She is a member of the Internal Advisory Board for the Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Institute of Medicine, Forum on Neuroscience and Neurological Disorders , a member of the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives , and co-Chair of the Committee on Women in Neuroscience for the Society for Neuroscience.
