Collen Varcoe, BSN, MSN, PhD

Dr. Varcoe is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia. Her research interests focus on violence, mental health, Aboriginal health, culture, gender, health services, inequity and ethics. Her recent research projects include a longitudinal study of women who have left abusive partners, a participatory action research project
conducted with women, including Aboriginal women and immigrant women, who had been battered by their partners, and a study examining the factors increasing rural and Aboriginal women’s interacting risks of violence and HIV infection.
