Research Interests
My research interests are related to women’s health and marginalization. My thesis project is focused on women’s lived experiences of substance use and mental health in Prince George, BC. It seeks to address gaps in existing literature on northern women’s experiences of these issues and to inform local health promotion and services to better meet the needs of this population.
I will explore the multiple intersecting factors that contribute to women’s experiences of substance use and mental health including gender, geography and place, socio-economic status, and trauma. My approach is based on Photovoice and uses participant photography to engage women in the research questions, to guide the qualitative interviews, and to share the results.
